Mary T’s Chis small dog rescue invites dog-lovers and the general community to join them for a memorial picnic Aug. 13, honoring the organization’s late founder, Mary Fodale-Tavoularis. The “pup-up” picnic will take place from noon-5 p.m. at Royal Oak Archers, 2762 Orion Rd, Oakland Charter Township and will feature a range of family and dog-friendly activities.
“Mary dedicated her life to dog rescue, working tirelessly for decades to save abandoned, neglected dogs and place them into loving homes,” said Mary T’s Chis Co-owner Debbie Patterson Pisarski. “We want to honor her memory with a joyous celebration that represents that happiness she brought to people and pets alike.”
The picnic is open to the public; dogs are welcome but not necessary. The event will include a doggy kissing booth, paw print art, an alumni parade, archery lessons, walking trails, bike paths, and a “pup-up” shop, as well as a memorial program at 1:30 p.m. It will also feature contests for Best Costume, Best Dressed, Owner Look-Alike, and Most Mixed-Up Mutts.
